CogniLogic is a combination of the words Cognition and/or cognitive and Logical because of Eric’s “textbook” approach to marketing communications.
Cognition, by definition, is the ability to quickly and effectively perform complex and challenging tasks. Cognitive processes involve acquiring and understanding knowledge, as well as forming beliefs and attitudes. A cognitive approach to decision-making and problem-solving therefore is distinctly different than emotional and volitional processes involved in wanting and intending.
CogniLogic, therefore, uses Cognition to generate Logical solutions.
CogniLogic was initially created in 1994 by Eric Yaillen when he and Kevin Moore were searching for company names as they began an independent business, supporting and marketing the Handicapping and Tournament Software systems originally developed by Kevin for Star Plan Data Systems. Kevin wanted the company to be called Kevin Moore & Associates while Eric preferred CogniLogic as a more generic, descriptive and encompassing name for the organization. Soon thereafter, when the licensing relationship with Star Plan officially ended, the two parted ways and each formed their own companies. CogniLogic was officially born as a vehicle for Eric to continue providing marketing communication consulting services.
